England produced the stand-out team performance on the first weekend of the RBS 6 Nations – but which players really caught the eye?

Look for the eye of the storm and there Robshaw can be found. He is clearly growing in stature as England’s captain.

5. George Ford (England)

Rose to the greatest challenge in his fledgling Test career magnificently. His game management was near-faultless.

4. Sam Warburton (Wales)

The Wales skipper could not mark his 50th cap with victory, but he was still his team’s best player by a distance.

3. Peter O’Mahony (Ireland)

Trademark workaholic display by the Munster man. At the heart of Irish efforts up front.

2. Jonathan Joseph (England)

Revelled in playing outside Bath colleague Ford and his second-half try was one to be savoured, a result of his strength and footwork.

1. James Haskell (England)

Extraordinary work-rate as he carried, tackled and mauled with unrelenting commitment. Almost scored only to run into the post. Outstanding.
