Aviva Premiership club Wasps have announced the signing of second-row forward Matt Symons from London Irish.

Symons, who was born in England, becomes Wasps' latest new arrival for next season alongside the likes of Danny Cipriani, Kurtley Beale and Tommy Taylor.

Symons, 26, joined Irish last term, captaining the side on several occasions, following a successful spell with New Zealand-based Super Rugby franchise the Chiefs.

Wasps rugby director Dai Young said: " Matt is a very talented player, and we're really pleased to have him join the squad ahead of next season.

"We have taken a keen interest in him since his rise with the Chiefs in New Zealand, and his physicality and lineout authority have impressed once again with London Irish, where he has been their stand-out player."
