Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

The deal ties the 52-year-old former England, Scotland and Bath head coach to the newly promoted Aviva Premiership outfit until 2019.

"It's a great honour for me to be director of rugby at Bristol Rugby. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here since arriving in 2013," Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.

"We knew there was a significant challenge ahead of us to take the team back to a level where we aspired to be, but I believe we are moving in the right direction.

"With Premiership rugby on the horizon, it's a great time to be involved and to guide this squad of talented players into a new chapter for Bristol."

Chairman Chris Booy added: " Our ambition is to be a top-four Premiership club and to compete in Europe and we believe Andy - in his role as director of rugby - can help us achieve that."
