Former winners Jamie Peacock and James Roby were both named on a four-man shortlist for Super League's Steve Prescott Man of Steel award that was announced on Sunday.

Leeds prop Peacock was named player of the season in 2003, while St Helens hooker Roby took the honours in 2007.

They will compete for the 2014 prize against Castleford hooker Daryl Clark and Warrington prop Chris Hill.

The Man of Steel prize, which has been awarded every year since 1977, has been renamed this year in honour of former Hull and St Helens full-back Steve Prescott, who died from stomach cancer last November.

The shortlist was drawn up following a poll of every Super League player.

A panel featuring a former Man of Steel, figures from the players' union and a representative each from the written and broadcast media will decide the winner, who will be announced at a dinner at Old Trafford in Manchester on October 8, three days before the Super League Grand Final.
