Victorious New South Wales coach Laurie Daley has extended his contract until 2017 after breaking Queensland's long hold on rugby league's State of Origin series, officials said Monday.

The New South Wales Rugby League said Daley had signed a two-year extension taking him to the end of the 2017 season as he aims to build on this year's win.

NSW ended Queensland's eight-season reign as Origin champions with a 2-1 series win earlier this year.

"This process has just started," Daley said.

"It was an amazing year for everyone in NSW, and we look forward to building on what we achieved in this year's series," he added.

"It's a special job and I am one of the lucky ones to be given the opportunity by the board of the NSWRL."
