Bird to lead PM's XIII against PNG

State of Origin forward Greg Bird will lead a Prime Minister's XIII against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls next month, the Australia Rugby League said on Monday.

The selection features some of the National Rugby League's rising stars for the representative game at Kokopo in PNG on October 12.

The team was chosen by coach Laurie Daley in consultation with the Australian selectors and national coach Tim Sheens.

The Australian squad for the Four Nations tournament also involving England, New Zealand and Samoa and which begins in Brisbane on October 26, will be announced following the game.

The Prime Minister's XIII (1-13) - Matt Moylan; Josh Mansour, Will Chambers, Sione Mata'utia, Daniel Tupou; Anthony Milford, Ben Hunt; Aaron Woods, Robbie Farah, Josh Papalii; Ryan Hoffman, Beau Scott; Greg Bird (capt).

Reserves: Michael Morgan, Brenton Lawrence, Josh McGuire, Dylan Napa, Jack Wighton.
