Sale Sharks fly-half Danny Cipriani has been dropped from England's squad for this autumn's Rugby World Cup, Press Association Sport understands.

Here we look at some of the Twitter reaction to Cipriani's omission, which appears to be an unpopular decision, ahead of the squad being officially announced on Thursday:

BBC Sport journalist Sonja McLaughlan (@Sonjamclaughlan) wrote: " Think England missing a trick omitting Danny Cipriani. Offers real point of difference in potentially tight pool games."

Tony Blease (@Bleasey1) said: "Stunned Danny Cipriani will not make the England World Cup squad #EnglandRugby #farce."

"So it seems Cipriani has been left out without starting a single Test under the current management. Too ridiculous for words if true #rugby," Brendan Gallagher (@gallagherbren) said.

"Personal view is that Cipriani is a game-changer with X-factor and #England are not so awash with them that they should overlook him.," Daily Mail reporter Chris Foy (@FoyChris) said.

Robin Davey (@robindavey01) thinks England's opponents will be happiest over the decision, adding: "Good news for Wales as Danny Cipriani set to be left out of England World Cup squad in ultra conservative choice. Lancaster will cop it now!"

And Ross James (@RossJamesy83) agrees: "As a Welshman I can't believe England are are supposed to be leaving #cipriani out of they #RugbyWorldCup squad he changed the game Sat."
