There were hard-fought wins for Ireland and Wales over the weekend – but which players shone in the RBS 6 Nations?

6. Stuart Hogg (Scotland)

Probably Scotland’s best player against France, and similarly impressive here. Delighted to come up against Welsh hooker Richard Hibbard as he raced in to score the opening try.

5. Billy Vunipola (England)

This won’t be the toughest test of his international career and his try may be in the “dubious” category, but this was one of his best performances for England. Strong, forceful – and very encouraging.

4. Conor Murray (Ireland)

A tidy performer as he marshalled his pack, Murray sparked Ireland to life with the first try.

3. Taulupe Faletau (Wales)

Outstanding in all areas for Wales. Made some bone-crunching tackles and was also an impressive ball-handler and carrier.

2. Johnny Sexton (Ireland)

Calmness personified under fire after 12-week absence. Was again in the wars on his return from concussion, but stood tall and gave as good as he got.

1. Leigh Halfpenny (Wales)

Imperious performance in attack and defence by the gifted Wales full-back, who also kicked 16 points. Magnificent stuff.
