Scotland centre Huw Jones faces about five months out after tearing his hamstring.

The 23-year-old has been ruled out of contention for the British and Irish Lions as well as Scotland's summer tour, where they take on Australia and Fiji.

Jones suffered his injury during Scotland's 29-0 victory over Italy, which rounded off their RBS 6 Nations campaign on Saturday. Jones scored two tries in the otherwise disappointing game against England.

A statement from his South Africa-based club read: " DHL Stormers centre Huw Jones has torn his hamstring playing for Scotland in the Six Nations and will undergo surgery in London.

"This means that Jones will not be able to train for four to five months as he joins fellow DHL Stormers midfielders Juan de Jongh and Damian de Allende on the sidelines."

Edinburgh-born Jones is due to join Glasgow in the summer and faces a fight to be fully fit for the start of next season.
