Rugby is played on a pitch with two teams of 15 players a side. The aim of the game is to outscore the opposing team. The players must carry the Prolate spheroid ball and get to the other teams end of the pitch to score, they can only pass the ball backwards or across the pitch or they can kick the ball in any direction.
The opposing team must block the ball from reaching their end of the pitch by tackling the team, when a player is tackled the ball must be released and a at this point the teams must battle for the ball. The game lasts for 80 minutes which is divided in to two half's of 40 minutes.
The teams are made up of 15 players, eight fowards and seven backs. The aim of the fowards is to gain and retain control of the ball, the main job for the foward is to drive the team foward with the ball and score.
